IBM at 115: Innovation Is a Practice of Reinvention

On June 16, 2026, IBM marked 115 years since the formation of the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company. The company’s story is a reminder that lasting technology organizations must keep learning and reinventing themselves.

Over the decades, IBM’s work has touched many eras of computing: the 701 scientific computer, System/360, the personal computer, Deep Blue, and Watson. Today, the work continues across hybrid cloud, quantum computing, and generative AI.

The technologies change, but the underlying challenge remains familiar: understand what people and organizations need, then build systems they can trust and use to solve meaningful problems.

The iconic eight-bar IBM logo represents one chapter in that larger story. For 115 years, IBMers have contributed ideas and work that changed industries. I’m grateful to be part of the company’s continuing journey and curious about what comes next.
